School Board |
The Board of Education is comprised of seven members elected by district patrons to represent them in the governance of the District. The Board exercises general supervision over the District and ensures that the schools are maintained as required by state and federal law. The members of the Board receive no compensation for serving in these positions. The members serve three-year staggered terms of office, with two or three members elected each year. In 2008, the Board was selected by the Missouri School Boards' Association as Missouri's Outstanding Board of Education. In June of 2010, the Board of Education was one of 19 boards nominated for the Missouri School Boards' Association 2010 Outstanding Board of Education Award. As the winner of the 2008 Outstanding Board of Education Award, the Board can not proceed beyond semifinalist status. The Board of Education Secretary and Custodian of Records is Vicki L. Diggs.
