Dene't Wyckoff
I am the part-time school social worker at Siegrist Elementary and currently work Tuesday's and Thursday's. I received my undergraduate degree from Kansas State University (Go Wildcats!) in social work and attended Washburn University where I graduated with my MSW (Master's of Social Work). I'm a licensed social worker in the state of Kansas at the master's level. Prior to working in Platte City, I worked full-time in Leavenworth schools for 7 years including one year at Ft. Leavenworth. My other work experience includes working with children and families in foster care in both Wyandotte and Johnson counties.
My primary responsibilities at Siegrist include leading various play therapy groups that vary from year to year but include such topics as: divorce, self esteem, anger management, grief or loss and social skills to name a few. I also work with some children 1:1 as needed. I receive my referrals from both teachers and parents. Other responsibilities include working with children and their parents to address barriers to their attendance and linking families to community resources to meet some of their basic needs such as food, clothing, beds, etc. My goal is to work as a team with parents, teachers and administrators to improve the mental health of the children I work with and it's impact on their education. Please feel free to contact me at Siegrist Elementary with any questions, needs or concerns!
