Coach Donovan's award presentationDuring halftime of the PCHS Girls Basketball Game on January 18, the Greater Kansas City Officials Association (GKCOA) presented PCHS Volleyball Coach Katlyn Donovan with the Jarry Thomas Memorial High School Volleyball Coach of the Year Award. Qualifications for this award are coaches who know court protocol, who encourage and get the most out of players, who focus on coaching rather than officiating, and who lead in sportsmanship.

David Thompson of GKCOA was on hand to present the award, who explained GKCOA’s first elected Vice President of Volleyball was Jarry Thomas. Jarry was instrumental in helping create great relationships between coaches and officials and helped create the Coach of the Year Award. Jarry died in 2016 and the annual GKCOA Coach of the Year Award has been named in his memory. Members of Jarry's family were also there to congratulate Coach Donovan.
