PCHS Choir Members Make Memories in NYC

PCHS Choir Members Make Memories in New York City
Posted on 06/17/2024
In late May, members of PCHS Concert Choir, their families, and staff (a total of 71 in the group) headed to New York City on what would be a trip of a lifetime! Travelers had the opportunity to take in New York sites such as Little Italy, Times Square, Central Park, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, the 9/11 Memorial, and a dinner cruise down the Hudson River that featured views of the Statue of Liberty and the New York skyline. The trip also included shopping around the Times Square area, and finding quintessential New York culinary delights of hot dogs, pizza, bagels, and cheesecake.

The highlight of the trip was taking in the shows and opportunities that came with them! PCHS's Concert Choir had the chance to perform in the gorgeous Cathedral of St. John the Divine. The resonance of the space made the performance like none other. Travelers also saw the brilliant performance of Hamilton, and afterward had the chance to meet several members of the cast, getting to ask them questions about their career, auditions, and how they do what they do. Everyone also enjoyed the dazzling performance of Aladdin. The very next day, students had the opportunity to work with a Broadway music director learning a song from Aladdin and then put the song together with the featured soloist, Korie Lee Blossey, who has played the role of Genie on Broadway.

Kudos to the students, who were on numerous occasions, complimented for their respect, behavior, and talent. Thank you to the chaperones and families for your support and to the staff for planning, organizing, and leading all 71 people, always with the students' experience at the forefront.
